The "Handbook for overhauling motor, sail, and oar-powered boats," which first appeared in 1925, was for years the German language standard for care and repair of wood and steel recreational boats of all sorts.
It has become apparent that the boat-care methods of those times, particularly for wooden boats are still valid today and that all of today's technical progress, for example with paints and varnishes, cannot replace the traditional methods of conservation and care.

Owners of wooden and steel boats thus still profit from the wealth of experience gained during the heyday of wooden boat building.
