Tron AIS-SART and Tron SART20 can both be used as "search and rescue locator beacons" in accordance with the IMO SOLAS amendment in resolution MSC.256(84), giving the shipowner the freedom to choose either product as required by SOLAS chapter III, regulation 2.2.

JOTRON TRON SART20: This SART (Search And Rescue Transponder) radar transponder is a 9GHz transmitter/receiver for locating vessels in distress. When activated, if a pulse is received from any 9GHz X-band radar, the SART immediately sends back a signal which is clearly marked on the radar screen as a distress signal.
