ACTIV / Volkwin Marg

40 years ago, Hamburg architect Volkwin Marg acquired the decommissioned Danish cargo ship ACTIV. Over several years, the lover of historic shipbuilding restored the wooden ship launched in 1951 at the Ring Andersen shipyard in Svendborg Denmark.

To date, the ACTIV has covered well over 400,000 nautical miles under sail. Marg tells of people who accompanied him on board, and also of encounters with friends, artists and colleagues in search of cultural and historical destinations. The fact that imaginative fun and an always great galley were not neglected on board is proven in the book with numerous insights into life on the ACTIV.

The coffee table book is the chronicle of a great project that is unparalleled in this form.
