The ICOM IC-M73 EURO VHF handheld radio: slim, good-looking, powerful and with professional features.

The design of the radio is not only modern, but also ergonomic and therefore easy to operate. Thanks to the sturdy housing, it is a durable and reliable device. Its high-contrast LC display can be read from a wide viewing angle.

Waterproof according to IPX8
The IC-M73 EURO offers the best possible protection against water penetration. It could be submerged in 1.5 m of water for up to 30 minutes without damage.

700 mW AF power
A bridge-tied-load (BTL) AF amplifier is used, which can deliver 700 mW of AF power to the loudspeaker, making the remote station intelligible even in noisy environments.

6 W HF output power
The output power of 6 W enables a large radio range. The powerful BP-245H Li-ion battery allows up to 18 / 16 hours of operation (basic / plus version) under normal conditions.

• Use in inland waterway radio (ATIS) possible. For this purpose, the channel group switching to ATIS must be activated (for a fee) and the assigned ATIS code must be programmed.

Note: For technical reasons, the battery pack BP-245H cannot be used with the former multiple charger BC-197.

Anyone who has an ATIS number for inland radio may store it in their handheld radio. In countries such as the Netherlands or Belgium, handheld radios may also be used without restrictions in inland areas.

In Germany (or France), on the other hand, it is prohibited to use handheld radios in a traffic area other than "radio on board" and this in turn is taboo for small vessels (<20m). This means that recreational boaters are de facto prohibited from using a handheld radio in the German inland area.

Anyone who does so anyway is committing an administrative offense (offence no. 22.240510). This may result in a warning fine (55 euros) or even a higher fine.

The IC-M73 EURO PLUS version has the following additional functions:

• Active Noise-Canceller for the suppression of disturbing ambient noise. The built-in electronics are effective during transmission and reception and can reduce background noise by up to 90 %. This increases intelligibility - hear better and be heard better.
• Last call voice recording: Up to one minute of the last incoming call is automatically recorded so that important calls are not missed. Recording can also be started manually.
• The bass booster function provides a clear bass sound during reception and transmission.  A signal processor boosts the low-frequency part of the voice signal spectrum, optimising the sound of the voice on the transmitting and receiving end.
