In the early summer of 2010 Arved Fuchs started from Greenland with his ship DAGMAR AAEN on a North Atlantic discovery voyage.
He didn't visit the hot spots of the cruising or yachtie scene, instead he visited lonely harbours and remote islands. He went to places and people who live traditionally from the sea. In this book - filled with fascinating, beautiful photographs - Arved Fuchs depicts his experiences and thoughts during this voyage: There are meditations on the sea, coastal landscapes, and peoples around the North Atlantic.

In the middle is the love of the sea, with the sea, from the sea in the cultural realm of the North Atlantic: Scandinavia, Greenland, Labrador, Newfoundland, and the British Islands.
It's about fishermen and cod, ecology and climate, oil production and offshore wind parks, but also about the wild beauty of coastal cliffs, about the culture of a landscape and its people, about the poetry of lighthouses and breakwaters, about fascinating fauna and flora, about sometimes delicious, sometimes acquired tastes in food and drink, about still sunsets and frightening storms, about islands as time capsules.

A book put together with the magazine STERN, completing a five-part series on art.

176 pages, 150 colour photos, format 22 x 28cm, hardcover with dust jacket.
