Many classic and modern yachts have a self-draining cockpit above the waterline. The cockpit drains or scuppers are located at the lowest point of the cockpit floor. Incoming water can flow out through bilge pipes or hoses. Tenders, dinghies, smaller sailboats or trailer boats often have small openings or through-hulls just above the waterline.
