In this case, mariners can use inflatable life jackets with an automatic release mechanism. On contact with water, the life jacket gets automatically inflated by a gas cartridge. Compact, inflatable automatic lifejackets for children and adults offer greater wearing comfort but need to be checked and maintained regularly.
