  • Water-proof, buoyant, yellow polycarbonate case.
  • Strong LED and infrared flash.
  • Transmitting for more than 24 hours.
  • Transmission power: 5 W.
  • Lithium battery with 5 years replacement cycle (no hazardous good).

Comes with multi-function clips which can be used in conjunction with the beacon, providing numerous wear-ability options (life vest, backpack, jacket...) that address a variety of usage applications.

The PLB must be registered before putting it to use. There are two alternative options for registration. Decide which option works for you:

  • You only use the PLB on a personal basis, perhaps even on different ships, as personal safety equipment. Then you can and must register it yourself free of charge. You make this registration after receiving the device. The documents are enclosed with the device.
  • Your vessel has an MMSI identifier and the PLB is to be used only on this vessel. We can program the MMSI for a fee prior to delivery (ship specific). Put the article 3957-000 "First Coding PLB / EPIRB" (see also matching articles) in the shopping cart and tell us the MMSI and the name of your ship in the comments field when ordering.

EPIRBs (Emergency Position Indicating Beacon) allow the alarm and location of an accident at sea to be broadcast to the worldwide GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System). After activation in case of a emergency at sea they alarm the worldwide COSPAS/SARSAT satellite system over the 406 MHz frequency and send the MMSI number and precise position to other ships, which the GPS sensor has determined. This emergency message is received by a ground station and forwarded to a sea rescue service station in charge of that area, the rescue started and coordinated. Alarmed rescue planes and ships are also directed to the accident by a 121.5 MHz VHF homing signal. Additionally floatable EPIRBs emit a LED flash signal.
