ACTIV / Volkwin Marg

40 years ago, Hamburg architect Volkwin Marg acquired the decommissioned Danish cargo ship ACTIV. Over several years, the lover of historic shipbuilding restored the wooden ship, which was launched in 1951 at the Ring Andersen shipyard in Svendborg.

To date, the 3-masted topsail schooner ACTIV has travelled well over 400,000 nautical miles under sail.

Marg talks about the people who accompanied him on board and also about encounters with friends, artists and colleagues in search of cultural and historical destinations. The book provides numerous insights into life on board the ACTIV, proving that there is no shortage of imaginative fun and a consistently great galley.
